City Of Light Tribute – Download & Video

Three massive fans of Simple Minds have been working on one of their favourite tracks recently and come up with an alternative take on the 1989 Street Fighting Years track ‘Let It All Come Down’. Download it below.

Pete Simcoe of the trio said “We all really love this song and I grew up learning my slide guitar skills by playing to Burchill’s classic riffs on this track and others. We started work on the cover when Chris sent me the audio file from France after playing around with the arrangement in his spare time and I then put some guitars over the top. I’ve never met the guy but its a sort of European ‘collaboration to show our appreciation’. Iain, who I recently met at an open mic night came along and sorted the vocal in a couple of takes so its a curious meeting of similar minds as it were.”

Pete went onto say, “The whole project is for fun and for the fans of this track! We’re hoping the band give it a listen and wonder what their take on it might be.”

Christophe Avril is a keyboard player and arranger based in Lille, France and plays jazz with a band as well as being a massive Simple Minds fan. You can hear him cheering on the Live In The City of Light recordings. Seriously.

Pete Simcoe is a guitarist based in Chester, England. When not practising to along to those classic Burchill riffs, has been known to listen to Led Zeppelin and even do some designing too! [www.simcoe.co.uk]

Iain Tucker is a singer from Chester, England, who, when not listening to Simple Minds, is a big fan of The Manics, Bowie, wearing eye-liner and singing Acappella in venues around the region.
