I really don’t recall things ever been as busy as they have been recently. Apart from playing our own shows almost nightly, we have also managed to cram in television appearances, radio shows, in store signings, festival appearances, band rehearsals, and finally just yesterday we shot two new promo clips in just one day. The travelling in between has also eaten up a ton of time but there is no way around that.
It has been mental, but it has also been very good for Simple Minds with for the most part positive reactions all round. The guys are all in great form and a lot of laughter has taken place, the sunshine has also accompanied us for the greatest part and that always leads to a good feeling.
The German shows went very well as I am sure those who attended will verify, and I don’t think I am wrong in saying that the band gets better with each and every show. Of course for that to happen we rely on warm audiences, so thanks to everyone who travelled and made us feel so good as we played the music that we love.
Next up is Cork and since the dates have come in, this is a show that I have been looking forward to. Of course Simple Minds are a Scottish band, but most of us in the band have Irish blood, little wonder then that we identify with Ireland so much and with that being so we will want to give a great show in a city that we all look on as being that bit special. Then again all the shows are unique and as I have said, plus we know no other way than to try and give things our best. We definitely appreciate the enthusiasm that meets us every night we walk on stage however, it spurs us on no end, always has done and always will.
Meeting fans as we travel round, is always a pleasure, and it is remarkable to see so many faces that come night after night. I hope we are worth it and that the set remains fresh each time for them.
And so on we go, playing shows, writing new songs, and planning the next stage. It is all good. Long may it remain so!
