09 Nov, 2007 New label for Simple Minds / Night of The Proms
The next set of new recordings from Simple Minds will be released through the newly formed W14/Universal label. Having purchased the Sanctuary label earlier this year W14/Universal automatically gained the right to pick up the option on the remaining SimpleMinds/Sanctuary deal.
W14 head of A&R John Williams originally signed the band to Sanctuary and was hugely supportive throughout the recording of Simple Minds last release Black&White 050505.
Night of The Proms
Simple Minds will continue their ten year relationship with The Night Of The proms in ’08 by taking part in a handful of Proms shows in Belgium, France and Spain. Already confirmed and on sale is the Charleroi April 19 show with details of the other dates to follow. Taking time out from their recording schedule Charlie Burchill and Jim Kerr will perform a fifteen minute orchestral set at the Spiroudome.
Plans for a fully fledged Simple Minds concert tour at the end of ’08 are currently in discussion with more details expected to be announced early next year.
